FAQ

Good questions

Everything people usually ask before commissioning a mural. Can't see yours? Just ask.

How much does a mural cost?

Every mural is priced individually based on size, level of detail, wall surface and access. As a rough guide, small feature walls start from £X and larger commercial walls from £Y. Send a photo and measurements for a free, no-obligation quote.

How long does it take?

Most residential murals are painted in 3–5 days. Larger commercial pieces can take one to two weeks. Design usually takes a week or two before that.

Do I need to prepare the wall?

Just clear the area in front of it. Surface prep, priming, dust sheets and clean-up are all included. If the wall needs repairs first, we'll let you know at the quote stage.

Do you paint outdoor walls?

No. Kate Canning Studios specialises in interior murals, so all of our time goes into making indoor spaces beautiful: homes, offices, cafés, shops, schools and venues.

How long will it last?

As long as any well-kept painted wall: many years. Murals in busy spaces like kitchens, cafés and hallways can be sealed with a protective, wipe-clean varnish.

Can I see the design before you start?

Always. During your design consultation you'll have the chance to visualise the design through a VR headset, on your actual walls, in your room, at real size, so you can see exactly how it will look before you commit. Changes are included until it feels right.

Are the paints safe for nurseries?

Yes. Low-VOC, water-based paints are used indoors, and they're ideal for children's rooms. The room can normally be used again the same day.

Where do you work?

Based in Manchester, working across Greater Manchester and Cheshire, including Stockport, Salford and Trafford. Larger projects further afield are welcome, and travel is quoted separately.

How do I book?

Fill in the quote form with a few photos of the wall. Once you approve the design, a deposit secures your painting dates.

Have a wall in mind?

Send a few photos of the space and a rough idea of what you'd like. You'll get a reply within two working days with ideas and a price guide.
